What is BYOK?
Bring Your Own Key. Register free, run `alienrecon config --api-key <your-key>`, and AlienRecon routes through your own API key. You pay your own token costs — typically pennies per session — and get all 53 rooms. Works with Anthropic, OpenAI, Groq, Google Gemini, Mistral, and any OpenAI-compatible provider.
Which providers work? How much do they cost?
Anthropic Claude Sonnet: ~10-30¢/session. OpenAI GPT-4o: ~15-40¢/session. Groq (Llama 3.3 70B): free tier available, extremely fast. Gemini 1.5 Pro: free tier available. Most users spend under $2/month. Groq in particular is a great free option.
What's the difference between BYOK and Pro?
BYOK is free but you manage your own API key and pay per token. Pro uses our token (zero key management) and adds Free Recon mode — bring your own live target and it walks you through it. That's the real differentiator.
What is Free Recon mode?
Pro-exclusive. Point it at any box you're authorized to attack — THM, HTB, your own lab — and it walks you through it live. No script. Just you and a live target.
What do I need to run it?
Python 3.11+ and a Linux environment — Kali, Parrot, WSL, whatever you use. Run `pip install alienrecon` to get started.
Can I cancel Pro?
Anytime. You keep access through the end of your billing period.
